Summary of Position:
The Consultant will conduct an evaluation study on women’s political, decision-making levels including conflict resolution and mediation.
The study is to highlight effective best practices, gaps and recommendation on way forward. Despite many global and regional commitments and initiatives, the number of women’s participation in all areas is still lacking. Women still face discrimination dues to the patriarchal nature in this part of the world. It is therefore imperative 5 years since the last study was conducted in Guinea Bissau on women’s political participation, several mechanisms and tools including capacity building lobbying at state level, through declarations such as the Canchungo declaration to ameliorate women’s participation. A stocktaking is undertaken to measure progress as well as identify gaps and key impediments into the slow process of women’s participation. Best practices will also be recorded with a possibility for replication as well as inform policy. The study in addition will be used for lobbying as advocacy for the passing of the quota law for women, lobbying political parties including voluntary quotas for women within political parties, government institutions and others, as well as inform policy.

- Identify how they are resourced
Master’s degree or equivalent in social studies, law, gender. Demonstrated experience in women’s political participation, conflict resolution and mediation. 5 years’ experience in the area of women peace and security.
Language:
Fluency in Portuguese and English(spoken and written) is required.
Preference will be given to equally qualified women candidates.
